All over the world Christmas is celebrated in different was then other country's. In China very Christmas different to other country's did you know that in China One of the most popular Christmas traditions in China is to hang beautiful lanterns indoors and outdoors and strung around a plastic Christmas Tree called “Tree Of Light”. Also as in Western culture Christmas day involves a family feast. But instead of the Western traditional turkey or ham Chinese families are most likely to eat food associated with Chinese New Year. And finally in China only about 1% percent of Chinese are Christians so only few people celebrate Christmas. In China Christmas is only celebrated in major cities. In these big cities there are Christmas Trees and other decorations on the streets and department stores.

Year 6 Bike Ride
A few weeks a go some of the Year 6's went on a bike ride everyone in the group was exited first we had to get the school bikes from Mr Hitch-man when we got our bikes we put them on the trailers some parent volunteers brought with them my mum was a volunteer she brought the big car we have so she could bring her bike. Me and Brock where with my mum when we got there we got our bikes put on some sun block if we didn't have any on already when I put on sun block I'm as white as a ghost. when we started of we where fine but as we moved on forward we came across a hill that was the hardest part of the first part of the track you can tell from my face expression.
After the howl ride we had McDonald's I ordered a small hot fudge sundae with a flake then we went back to school and put our bikes away and then went home.

Today we had Whetu survival rotations because it was our last day for Whetu survival. The first rotation was making a baked potato and a banana with marshmallows and chocolate chips.
The second rotation was a treasure hunt for letters and there where two clues the main clue was "What do bears call people in a sleeping bag" at the end we had to guess what bears call people in a sleeping bag the answer is Burrito.
The last rotation was campfire making they way you had to do it is you had to make the grass in the middle like a con the put the smaller sticks on like a tea-pea and then put the bigger stick on like a tea-pea as well. We also where able to make sparks with a flint & steel when everyone did both things Mrs Kennedy tried to make a fire out of paper but it was to windy to start the fire.
After all of that we where able to eat the baked potato and the BBQ banana the BBQ banana was really good I didn't eat the potato because I'm saving it for my mum.

Bush Survival
How to survive in the Bush!
What is the S.T.O.P acronym for survival?
Finding fresh water!
Fire
What is the S.T.O.P acronym for survival?
- The S.T.O.P acronym means Stop, Think, Observe and Plan.
Finding fresh water!
- The best way to get fresh water is to set up in a flat suffice.
- But far away from the river to your tent won't get washed away.
- Then get the water from the river.
- Build your tent you packed in your backpack.
- Set up for the night.
- Go to sleep.
- The best way to make a fire is to get a smallish rock them a medium sized stick.
- Spin the stick on the stone like your rubbing your hands together then you have a fire.
- But make shore you put stones around.
- If you have a cut you can use the band-aids you packed (if you did) to cover the wound.
- If your friend is not breathing used the mouth to mouth technique to give them air.
- If your friend is choking hug them them then pull your hands and what ever their choking on is out.
- Make a fire to make the rescue team can see you.
- Them jump up and down waving your arms up in the air.
- Shout a lot.

Shelter Badge (Final)
This is my teams shelter we made from a Tarp and some rope. The build was successful as you can see in the picture. We worked together as a team very well though we did have miner site backs but we did it in the end together. The Hardest thing was probably getting control because at the start it was all over the place. The easiest part was disassembling the tent because all we had to do is swirl the rope around and around.

Tent Planning
Tent Building Reflection

This is me and my troop making a tent our team is called The Tui's. The hardest thing was proudly dissembling the tent because when we where taking out the poles because the iron thing kept coming of. I think the thing that worked well was the team work we did because we listened to Jessica reading out the instructions and we didn't yell at each other if we did something wrong. I learnt that the iron pegs half to go in on an angle not straight down.
This is what the tent looked like when we finished.

Shelter Badge
Where is the best place to build a shelter?
I Think the best place to build a shelter is next to a river so you can get water to drink, and fish to eat the way you get the fish you get a branch and a sharp stone to stab the fish but at least 5 meters away from the river.
What does the shelter need to protect you from? the main thing you want to protect your self from is mosquitoes so I would make a curtain out of tree leafs to block the mosquitoes away.
What materials could you use to build a shelter? I think you can use tree leafs and tree branches and vines to tie the branches together so they can stay secure.
What are some pros and cons of sleeping in a bush shelter? after a long day of being in the bush you should normally stop and set up your camp sight (unless your a night person).
